Exciting Milestone Reached for our Development on Como Lake Avenue, Coquitlam

We are excited to announce that Monday evening marked a milestone in the development of our project at Como Lake Avenue in Coquitlam. During the Public Hearing at Coquitlam City Hall, councillors voted 7-2 to approve our proposal to build a 26-storey residential building in the Burquitlam neighbourhood, within 400 metres of the future Evergreen Line's ‘Burquitlam Station'.

By creatively proposing a development with both market and non-market homes, we believe our submission thoughtfully provides a win-win-win opportunity for the community, the local YWCA, and the City of Coquitlam. Through our partnership with the YWCA Como Lake Gardens, the building will include seven family homes for single mothers and their children in need of transitional housing. Additionally, our proposed plan will feature thirteen much needed three-bedroom homes for Coquitlam families.

We'd like to thank everyone who came out on Monday to provide both support and valuable feedback for our project and rezoning submission. We greatly appreciate the recognition from the YWCA Como Lake Gardens for our future contributions to their organization, as well as those individuals in the community who voiced their support of our project’s intention to provide more affordable housing near the future Evergreen Line. We would also like to extend our appreciation to the members of the community who expressed their concerns with regards to traffic congestion and road alignment issues. We plan to work diligently with the City and the community to address these concerns as we work towards a development permit.

Thank you to everyone involved in this exciting milestone and for the community’s feedback over the past year. We look very forward to working with the City of Coquitlam to build the best possible development for the Burquitlam community.
