New ideas for holiday décor

It’s the season to spruce up your home! Some of the most captivating decor ideas blend traditional pieces with new ones. This time of year is your chance to think outside the box when it comes to decor. Here are some ideas:

Go for a garland
Instead of a traditional Christmas tree, why not make your own evergreen garland and hang your favourite ornaments from it? You can purchase boughs from the grocery store or pick some up from the Christmas tree lot. Use a hemp rope as the base and tie boughs on with green wire that will look invisible when blended with greenery.

Display ornaments on the table
Place vintage ornaments on a cake stand for a simple and eye-catching centerpiece. This is a unique way to make your favourite pieces stand out. Choose a white or neutral cake stand to keep the focus on the ornaments.

Decorate with the dreidel
For Hanukkah, fill a vase with dreidels – choose gold ones to reflect candlelight. Rita Brownstein from Design Megillah recommends filling the vase with a simple flower like the white hydrangea so as not to distract from the tops. In addition to looking beautiful, the dreidels help weigh the vase down so it can support heavier flowers.

Stemware with flair

Use leftover ribbon to tie around the stems of your champagne flutes or wine glasses for an extra bit of festivity. Real Simple recommends choosing a different color for every glass to help guests keep track of their drinks.

Let the lights loose

Christmas lights can do so much more than add a twinkle to your tree. Why not try draping a strand around your favourite home décor pieces or winding one into a garland, as recommended by PopSugar?
